“Give Blood, Save a Life” Event at Our School

“Give Blood, Save a Life” Event at Our School

In a seminar organized in collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent (Türk Kızılay), our students learned about the importance of blood and stem cell donation directly from experts. Following the seminar, students made donations at the Turkish Red Crescent blood donation vehicle, with the participation of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Cüneyt Erenoğlu.
Our institution hosted a meaningful event contributing to public health. Çiğdem Taşçı, a Blood Donor Recruitment Officer at the Turkish Red Crescent, and Ramazan Çiçek, a Stem Cell Donor Recruitment Specialist at the Turkish Red Crescent’s TÜRKÖK South Marmara Regional Blood Center (Bursa), met with students from the Vocational School of Health Services in our conference hall.
During the seminar, which drew significant interest from our students, Çiğdem Taşçı shared insights on the vital role that regular blood donation plays in patients' lives and explained the donation process. Ramazan Çiçek highlighted that becoming a stem cell donor is often the only hope for patients awaiting a transplant, and he provided an overview of the work carried out by TÜRKÖK. Our students—the healthcare professionals of the future—had the opportunity to pose their questions directly to the experts.
At the conclusion of the seminar, our School Director, Dr. Mustafa Ekici, presented certificates of appreciation to our guests for their valuable contributions.
Following the program, the Turkish Red Crescent blood donation vehicle—stationed in front of the ÖSEM building—was visited, with our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Cüneyt Erenoğlu, also in attendance. Red Crescent volunteers, our faculty members, and our students came together to donate blood and stem cells. The awareness gained during the seminar translated into a tangible act of solidarity that very same day.
With the understanding that a single unit of blood can touch three lives, and a stem cell donation can offer a patient a second chance at life, we extend our gratitude to the Turkish Red Crescent (Türk Kızılay) family, our volunteers, and all the students and staff who contributed to this initiative.
Today—the final day of our campaign—you, too, can become a source of hope for someone by visiting the donation vehicle stationed in front of the ÖSEM building.
