First Aid Training Organized for Teacher Candidates

A first aid training session for teacher candidates was successfully conducted by Dr. Emine Sevinç Postacı at the Multi-Purpose Early Childhood Education Center operating within Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Vocational School of Health Services.

The training program aimed to raise awareness and develop basic intervention skills regarding situations that may require first aid in early childhood settings. Participants were provided with both theoretical and practical knowledge on basic life support, management of airway obstructions, initial response to injuries, and emergency management. Particular emphasis was placed on childhood-specific risks and intervention methods to enhance the professional competencies of teacher candidates.

In the practical sessions, scenario-based applications were implemented to strengthen participants’ ability to make accurate and rapid decisions in crisis situations. At the end of the training, it was aimed that teacher candidates would be better prepared and more conscious in responding to emergencies that may occur in educational environments. It was also emphasized that first aid competence among early childhood educators is critical for ensuring child safety and health, and that such training activities will continue sustainably.

We extend our thanks to the First and Emergency Aid Program second-year students Helin Ökdemir, Tuğba Çalışkan, and Ece Beğiç for their support.
